Did you know?

Research has found that many drivers often don’t consider their own children to be a distraction.

The most frequent types of driver distraction include:

  • Turning to look at your child in the rear
  • seat or watching the rearview mirror (76.4%)
  • Talking to your child (16%)
  • Assisting your child (7%)

Research has found that children are in the incorrect position in the car for over 70% of the journey time. Restraining your child correctly may help to reduce driver distraction.

Studies have found that parents are trying to be a good driver AND a good parent at the same time. They are torn between looking after their child, and they struggle to put their child’s more immediate needs behind the task of safely driving the car.

While parents may have plenty of strategies when it comes to trying to keep control in the backseat, these solutions can often become distractions themselves.
