Feel All-Bran New

In Just 5 Days

Story of Fibre

Fibre is an essential nutrient that our bodies need to feel good inside. Unlike others, it's not digested, but acts as a lubricant to help make sure everything else is. So althought it passes through the gut relatively unchanged, it's the most important ingredient to get rid of what we don't need.

Having a high-fibre diet can help to maintain digestive health and reduce tummy niggles, such as bloating. By including more natural wheat bran fibre in your diet, your whole body will thank you by saying goodbye to sluggishness and hello to a bran-new you.

The Kellogg's All-Bran range has something for everyone - from classic flakes to indulgent clusters - each with the digestive health benefits to make you feel happy inside.

Day 1

Ok so I’m not really sure how this will go ... but if it helps me feel healthier, and less bloated, then it’s perfect for me. This morning I kicked off my five day challenge with Bran Flakes, skimmed milk and a sprinkling of grapes. I love cereal with fruit. Fibre – I often forget I can get fibre from breakfast cereal, I always think of bread or brown rice. I do eat a bit of fibre, but I’m sure not enough, I know most women don’t. I understand how important fibre is, and given that I’m prone to feeling bloated and sluggish, I’d be delighted if a bowl of fibre rich cereal in the morning helped me fix these issues.

Day 2

Day 3

Still enthused by the challenge, I decided to go with banana for a topping on my cereal this morning. I also added some nuts. Yummy, crunchy, healthy and filling. Who knew this breakfast thing could be fun – and could make a difference? I’m feeling better for the routine and definitely less bloated – there’s no mid morning snacks and a much more ordered household for breakfast each morning. I’m also drinking a lot more water this week- always a good thing when increasing your fibre intake.

I made bran flakes crispy cakes for the kids today – they are a treat I sometimes make with them at the weekend, so I decided to try to include a healthy fibre element to our weekly treat. They loved them, and I had one too – no difference to the normal ones, and we actually included some raisins which the kids loved, and upped our fruit intake for the day too. Winner.

Day 4

For the first time in a long time, I woke this morning without feeling sluggish. I don’t know if it’s the five day challenge or just a lucky coincidence, but I feel great.

As it’s Saturday, we have a relaxed and lazy start to the day and I always cook French toast. I had found a recipe for a cereal flake encrusted French toast, so I thought I’d give it a whirl with the bran flakes – there’s a few other elements to it including toasted almonds – I guess you can add to your taste, and I have to say, they worked out really well. And I still felt like I was having some healthy elements to my breakfast.

As often happens in our house, Saturday evenings are movie time and we sometimes have pop-corn or a bowl of cereal – tonight I opted for bran flakes – this time just plain with full cream milk (slightly heated) and a sprinkling of cinnamon - it was to die for.

Day 5

We’re back on track today after Saturday’s indulges, and I’m back with my mixed fruit topping on the bran flakes.

Overall I’ve found this a very interesting challenge. I’ve realised what a difference it makes having a healthy fibre rich start to the day.

This is no longer just a challenge for me, I’ll be continuing on as part of my daily routine. I am happy to say this five day challenge has lived up to the promise – I feel better, less bloated and a lot less sluggish.

Day 1

Before starting the five day challenge my breakfast habits generally involved snacking on something at my desk at some stage between 9 and 11, so I suppose it doesn't necessarily count as a breakfast. I tend to spend most of my morning before work running around trying to get the rest of the family ready so it was really nice to sit down this morning and actually eat with them rather than preparing a breakfast for them and then continuing to prep anything else that may be needed by the kids throughout their day. I must say, I think even getting the time to breathe and enjoy a breakfast with the kids has made a big difference to my day never mind actually having fuel in my belly for the day.

I do try to include fibre in my diet as much as I can but that said, I'm not too sure exactly how much fibre I should consume and/or how much I do manage to eat. I am looking forward to seeing what some additional fibre in my diet might do for my digestive health.

Day 2

Being honest, I wasn't expecting to notice a difference in such a short space of time but after sitting down to my Bran Flakes this morning I was left feeling satisfied for much longer. I was totally shocked and delighted.

I tend to feel bloated a lot of the time and never really put too much thought into why but I must say, having the additional fibre in my diet really has helped. I feel less bloated today than I usually do and I can only really put it down to the addition on Bran Flakes in the morning. I think with the benefits I have been feeling, I might have the kids join me on the remainder of the challenge to see if they will see any benefits as I worry that they may not be getting enough fibre in their usual breakfasts.

Day 3

I can't believe I didn't start this sooner, not only do I feel like I have more of a bounce in my step but I am getting some great quality time with the kids in the morning so this new routine will definitely be sticking around. I decided to try the kids with Bran Flakes today and so opted to add strawberries to the bowl and I must say, it was such a treat.

I am putting in a real effort to up my fibre intake now having seen what a huge benefit I have been experiencing from such a small diet change. I have also increased the amount of veggies on everyone's plates in the evenings and again my evening snacking has decreased severely.

Day 4

I am officially a fibre convert, there I said it! I am feeling much less bloated now, it's amazing what just a few days can make. I am also feeling far less sluggish and feel like I have much more of a bounce in my step. I have also decided to include some Bran Flakes in our other meals, where possible, to ensure that we are getting the recommended amount of 25g (I have learned a lot in the last few days). I added some crushed Bran Flakes to the top of the ocean pie I had made for dinner and as well as adding extra fibre to the meal, it also added a great texture that we all (kids included) loved.

I am loving how little I am snacking now, before on days when I didn’t have breakfast I felt like I was grazing all day and was never full for long before I was sniffing out my next (usually unhealthy) snacks. I am defiantly feeling much better in myself and have been getting compliments from my co-workers that I am bounding with energy.

Day 5

Day five and I'm really feeling great! The challenge, really wasn't a challenge at all, I can't get over how easy it was to include into my daily routine and after experiencing the benefits of including a healthy high fibre breakfast like Bran Flakes, I most certainly will not be returning to my old habits. I found adding different fruit to the bowl on different days really helped to keep the challenge interesting and had me looking forward to breakfast each morning. I can't wait to try the other All Bran breakfast cereals.

Seeing the difference a healthy breakfast could make has really made me reflect on my eating habits and I have started to make healthier choices in my other meals too. I would definitely recommend the five day challenge to my friends and family. In fact, the noticeable changes I have been experiencing has resulted in a number of friends starting their five day challenge today!

Day 1

“Feel All-Bran New In Just 5 days”!!! I wasn’t so sure, but it was a challenge I was prepared to take. I normally have breakfast anytime between 7am and 11am, but participating in this challenge, I decided it was time to review my breakfast eating habits and actually sit down at a specified time each morning to enjoy my Kellogg’s All-Bran and brighten up my digestive health.

Day 2

Only day 2 and I am feeling the benefits already. I am actually sitting down to breakfast instead of watching my 3 daughters enjoying theirs! Working on a new breakfast routine/habit has more impact than the immediate health benefits. I am taking time out of my busy morning schedule to sit down with my family and share some quality time before heading off on our busy day’s. With this variation in my diet, I am noticing that by eating Kellogg’s All-Bran, I am definitely beginning to feel more energised.

Day 3

Okay, so my problem now is to keep my 3 daughters from eating my yummy, healthy, Kellogg’s All-Bran. By combining my Kellogg’s All-Bran with my regular use of multigrain brown bread, I am definitely feeling less bloated. I am also looking at other ways of introducing more fibre into my family’s diet. I think we will be using brown rice and wholemeal pasta from now on!

Day 4

The recommended amount of fibre per day per adult is just 25grams! I was probably not even having a quarter of that recommended amount per day. But by having my lovely bowl of All-Bran each morning, that’s a whopping 11g of my recommended amount. So by eating a healthier lunch and having my 5 a day, I feel so much better and won’t be changing back to my old habits anytime soon!

Day 5

It’s the last day of the “Feel All-Bran New In Just 5 Days” challenge and I can definitely conclude that it works, I feel All-Bran New!! My breakfast routine has definitely improved, giving me more quality family time in the mornings. My health has benefitted greatly. I feel less bloated and sluggish, more energised. I will continue to include the recommended amount of fibre (25g) per day in my diet. And I would thoroughly recommend the “Feel All-Bran New In Just 5 Days” challenge to my friends and family.

Like most mums breakfast for me each day is a rushed affair however I was looking forward to this All Bran challenge as I hadn’t had All Bran for years and it took me back to younger days!

I normally have breakfast on the run, generally a slice of toast or a rushed cereal. Usually i’d have my brekkie first thing and then I would be hungry again around 10.30/11.

The first day having All Bran certainly brought back memories but also surprises, I had forgotten how good All Bran tastes. I really enjoyed it..

The second day I tried blueberries with my All Bran and really enjoyed it. It felt like a really healthly, satisfying start to the day. I was tempted to have a second bowl for my lunch but resisted...

I also tried All Bran with yoghurt but to be honest I prefer my cereal swimming in milk!

Throughout the days I had All Bran with raisins, blueberries and some banana and really enjoyed it each time. Its such an easy breakfast. It also felt like I had more energy and even broke my record for my laps of the park this week

Now that I am hooked I will be having All Bran for my brekkie from now on...loving it!

Day 1

I don’t normally eat breakfast, mornings are always such a rush, getting everybody out the door, I normally just grab a coffee and a slice of toast if it’s going spare. I heard about the Kellogg’s All-Bran Five Day Challenge and I thought it was a good time to change that habit.

As a mum, staying healthy and keeping the family healthy is very important to me. Knowing that a bowl of cereal in the morning will help in that endeavour is a great thing. And a pretty simple idea.

So on Day 1, we all sat down to our Kellogg’s All Bran Bran Flakes breakfast , hubby included, and it was less stressful than it normally is actually. I had my cereal with skimmed milk and it was really enjoyable. I haven’t had Bran Flakes in years, and I’ve forgotten that they are really quite tasty.

I’m not sure I’m convinced that I’ll feel a big change in just five days – I understand how important fibre is, and I do try to include it in my diet – but how much difference can a bowl of cereal can make in just 5 days? All that said, I’m up for the challenge.

Day 2

The kids were ready at the breakfast table this morning – which was just so lovely. It has been a nice change to sit everyone down for breakfast – it’s a good routine that I will try to stick to.

This morning I had strawberries in my Kellogg’s All Bran Bran Flakes, it’s another way to improve healthy eating, and at this time of year they taste gorgeous.

I admit to being one of those people that does not eat enough fibre in my daily diet – it’s only when I stopped to really think about it. I’m very careful with the kids’ diet, but mine falls way short. Great to know that a bowl of cereal in the morning is low in fat and kicks off my day with wholewheat and wheatbran without too much effort at all.

I can see why people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I have already found that I’m less likely to snack mid morning having had a proper food start to the day.

All going well.

Day 3

This morning was a bit of a struggle, we all slept it out, so it was a rush to get everyone up and ready, AND include breakfast, but we did it. I forced myself to stick to the new routine, and I’m all the better for it. I included natural yoghurt and a nut mix in my cereal this morning – which was yummy (even though rushed). Organisation is key to this routine, it’s sounds so simple but once I have everything in the press, or on the table, it’s easy to stick to the plan.

After the rush of the morning, I had time later in the day to think about how I can incorporate a better diet plan for the family for all meals. I’m very conscious that while I often start off with a good plan to get us all on track for healthy eating, as the days/weeks get busier, the best laid plans fall by the way-side. One of the things I admit to lacking in my own diet is fibre, I’m very aware how important it is, that the function of fibre, while it’s not digested itself, is to act as a lubricant to ensure that everything else I eat is. Having a high fibre diet can help maintain digestive health and reduce tummy niggles such as bloating – who hasn’t felt bloated at one time or another?

With this in mind, I’m committed to a new healthy eating lifestyle for me and my family. I’ve made a new plan for our weekly meals, and a shopping list to match to make sure I have everything I need in the house – it’s all in the preparation.

Day 4

We were back on track this morning with everybody waking on time and I have to say, I am genuinely starting to feel so much better for this new breakfast routine. I’ve made a real effort with all other meals too, and am incorporating more veg and fruit in my diet for every meal. I have also started to bring a bottle of water with me before I leave the house. Once it’s in my handbag, I drink it without even thinking. Today I drank almost 2L – previously if somebody asked me to do that, I’d have refused point blank.

Overall I believe the Kellogg’s All-Bran Five Day Challenge has made a difference for me and my family. It has started me thinking about other ways I can improve my diet and healthy eating routine. I’m giving a lot more thought to what groceries I’m buying, and I’ve started to make subtle changes with every meal – I’m using brown rice and pasta (the kids haven’t even noticed) instead of white, we’re eating less white bread and I’m also including an extra veg with each meal, as well as adding beans and lentils to my casseroles - again, nobody even sees these additions, so it’s not difficult.

This morning’s cereal included sliced banana (the kids joined me in that endeavour) which we all really enjoyed.

One thing I’m still struggling with is nice (but healthy) snacks. I’ve bought nuts and have chopped raw veg at the ready, but an evening cuppa isn’t the same with a carrot stick.

Day 5

I thought I’d be glad to get to the end of the Kellogg’s All-Bran Five Day Challenge – but it’s actually been great. I really feel great and after just 5 days, I’m happy to admit I was wrong, it really does work.

It has been so much more than just a new breakfast routine.

I’ve even solved my weakness for treats to go with my cuppa. I found two recipes using Kellogg’s All-Bran Bran Flakes, which are super easy to make and very tasty – they are Bran Flakes Granola and Bran Flakes muffins. They have been a huge hit with the family and have fixed my need for a snack with the evening cuppa.
